A small Dutch-Caribbean island where the houses are painted the colour of gelato and the kitchen borrows from Africa, the Netherlands, Venezuela and the sea itself.
Chapter One
A kitchen made of five continents
Curaçao's food is a small library of borrowed ideas. Dutch pantry staples meet West-African stews. Sephardic Jewish traditions leave sweet, spiced biscuits behind. Venezuelan arepas cross the water on a Sunday. And in the middle sits keshi yena — a whole gouda cheese hollowed out, filled with spiced chicken, olives and capers, then baked until molten.
The result is a kitchen that tastes distinctly of one small island — even though every dish carries an accent from somewhere else.
Curaçao cooks the way the island looks — soft, layered, and painted in slightly too many colours.
Chapter Two
For the porch and the small kitchen
A cool drink on the porch, an evening plate of stoba, a hunk of pan bati still warm — the Curaçao collection is made for that slow island rhythm.
