The dish is the document
Families lose languages, addresses and accents within two generations. What survives is a way of cooking. A heritage gift that names those dishes — accurately, without cliché — does more genealogical work than a framed surname crest ever managed.
That is why these prints are drawn dish by dish rather than around flags and landmarks. The recognition is the point.
